Cooperative Monitoring: Work areas and veterans at home

On June 21 and 22, 2007, the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) and DKL International, Inc. (DKL) performed a series of tests of DKL’s SilentGuard sensor to determine its ability to detect passively the movement, respiratory rate and heart rate of people. The test was designed and implemented to evaluate the performance of the SilentGuardwhile inside a Faraday cage. The SilentGuard performed effectively, with better than 99 percent accuracy. It detected people when they moved and did not detect people when they remained stationary. It detected the heart and respiratory rates of people while in a sitting position, in a reclining position and while holding a 20-pound dog on their chests.
